My Dad,

Well where do I start? He was my Dad, my counselor, my friend, and the head of the family.  He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, (papu), a brother, a barber, a Shriner, a Mason, a golfer, a NASCAR fan and a patriot.  He loved every bit of all of it!  He loved to be surrounded by things and people he loved and everything he did, he did Big.  In the end, the friendship that everyone has shown shows he was loved Big!

As a child, it didn’t matter if we had the most boring game ever made, he would make it Big.  When he got involved it always became more fun!  He could take a cloudy day and somehow find a ray of sunshine somewhere peaking through!

I remember going to amusement parks when we were little and no matter how afraid we were of the ride, dad, (our hero) could always convince us to try it!

We always had huge Christmas’, he made sure of that.  It did not matter if we were dirt poor and he had to start getting for us in January before Christmas, we were going to have a great one!

He never wanted handouts; he was definitely willing to work for what he got!  When times were hard when we were little (with 4 little kids), I remember hearing him talk with my mother and saying, “I know we could qualify for free lunches (in the school system)” but he told her no, that they would make a way.  He always did!

Whenever any of the 4 of his kids, Mom, or anyone was in need of anything big or small, he would always find a way to solve the problem.  If it meant giving them the last penny he had, he would find a way!

He had a mind for numbers and the Bible too.  You could come out with a number and he could do the math faster in his head than you could with a calculator.  No matter what your question about the Bible was, he could quote the King James Version of the Old and New Testament by heart.  One of his favorite verses was Phillipians 2:12 “and every man shall find his own salvation with fear and trembling”.

As my Dad went through his life, I think looking back; one of his fears was that he wouldn’t make a mark in life, on his family or his fellow man.  His convictions were strong and you always knew where he stood on any matter.  You never had to question what he thought or where he stood.

I am sure he never would have dreamed in a million years that he had made such a mark on so many people as he really did!

Had he never dreamed so big or done things so big, he still would have made a big mark on all of his family’s life.

As I look back over my Dads life, I think we should all dare to dream so big, be willing to love and help so big, to put a mark on others lives so big!  If we were, wouldn’t the world be a much better place!

My Dad had such a big heart, too.  It was as big as everything else in his life.  He truly loved his neighbor as he loved himself, and he showed that in his giving ways!

I hope from this story, it challenges each and everyone of you that read this to truly try to love your fellow man, to try to understand your fellow man, to try to help your fellow man, and to find your salvation in the Lord with fear and  trembling.  If we do that, we will all be a lot better off!  As I write this, I pray for each and everyone of you reading this so that the God Almighty touch your heart so that we all can help one another and that none of you fall into the despair that my father did!

A text message my brother sent me months ago said, “Feed your faith and your fears will starve”.

As I leave you, just know my heart is broken at my loss, but my faith is not!  Without it, I couldn’t have survived without your love and support.  It would not be easy.

We, as a family, hope we can always give you all the same love and support through Bo’s Barbershop that my Dad gave you, so that the legacy of loving patriotism, loving your fellow man, and loving the Lord had always been given before.

Remember, “Feed your faith and your fears will starve”.

In Christian Love,

Bo’s Daughter, Renee
